The Bug Eater is a proven insect trapping system that will eliminate mosquitoes and other insects from the area.
The Outdoor Bug Eater is a Mosquito Trap that will kill insects by drowning – no chemicals used and perfect to reclaim your outdoor living space.
The Bug Eater is a proven insect trapping system that works by using black light that attracts mosquitoes to the machine.
It breaks the breeding cycle of light-attracted insects taking the male out of breeding – thus no poisons or gases trying to destroy females and their eggs.
The technology uses UV light reflections incorporated via a prism that is specific to blood-sucking and larvae laying insects that will mate and multiply if not caught.
Place a Bug Eater outside in the backyard to catch flying insects that carry disease or draw blood – mosquitoes, midges, moths, no-see-ums, sand flies, beetles.
The BUG EATER is best placed as far as possible away from the area where you entertain, relax, BBQ, play, swim or work and well away from the centre of activity and facing the area which is to be protected. Being directional, the BUGE ATER draws the insects from areas you want to protect. It works by line-of-sight, so if the bugs can see it, they will be attracted to it. The BUG EATER covers an area of 1 acre directionally
The unit is rated to use outside in all weather conditions. Do not compete with the setting sun or night lights.
Mounting with a bracket
The BUG EATER comes with a mounting bracket and screws and can be mounted on a tree, fence or building. Extras brackets are available if required. Can be used freestanding. Do not (except in special cases) mount the unit higher than 1.5 metres above the ground.
Getting Started
Fill Tray with 2/3rds water and add low scented Dishwashing Detergent. The detergent in the water breaks the surface tension and the insects sink to the bottom and drown.
The BUG EATER should be turned on at dusk and off at Dawn – every night.
WARRANTY
Pestrol warrants the BUG EATER to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and conditions for 24 months from the date of original purchase.
TIPS: TO GET THE BEST FROM YOUR BUG EATER.
Clean the lens periodically to ensure maximum ultraviolet radiation. To remove, put the finger or sharp object under the bottom centre slot and pull it towards you.
Remove or cover any stagnant water that may be around affected areas. Possible breeding grounds are water trapped in containers, tyres, buckets, drums, s-traps, downpipes or septic systems.
Cover sumps, downpipes, septic and drains with mesh to stop adults laying larvae that continue to hatch. This helps the BUG EATER do its job.
The idea is to catch the adult before it lays larvae and eggs which may re-infest the area. Make sure gutters and ground areas do not retain ponding water.
Remove any excess debris and leaves in gutters or gardens and keep your lawns mowed.
Ensure pot plants don’t have for any build-up of excess water. Flush all pots with water at least every 21days to be sure the breeding cycle of insects like mosquitoes is intercepted.
The UV Black Light bulb is not like normal lights. The intensity of the UV emitted diminishes over time, and we recommend you change the tube every 24 months.
Most pesky insects are night flyers and are attracted to a spectrum that comes from this Black Light source. BUG EATER lamps are specially engineered to 350-369 nanometres to provide the greatest attractant for protection and have proven to be the most effective available.
